Little Mix star in TV big night

SOUTH Tyneside starlets Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards are set to grace the stage of the National Television Awards.
The teenagers have been lined up to perform alongside Little Mix bandmates Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock at the prestigious TV event.
The show, which will be aired on ITV1 tomorrow, will be held at London’s 02 Arena and presented by Dermot O’Leary.
The night will see EastEnders and Coronation Street battle it out for the soap crown.
Comedian Michael McIntyre will go up against O’Leary, Keith Lemon and Geordie double act Ant and Dec for the title of Entertainment Presenter.
The X Factor – which propelled Little Mix to stardom when they took the winner’s crown last month – is up against Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice and Britain’s Got Talent for the highly-coveted Talent Show Award. Jade’s mum, Norma Thirlwall, said: “The girls are really excited to be performing at the National Television Awards.
“They have been working really hard for the past few months, attending a number of events and awards ceremonies.
“They have been really busy since the beginning of January, and have been writing songs like mad.
“They are really keen to get an album out as soon as possible, with a single out possibly in April.”
South Tyneside singers Jade Thirlwall, from Laygate, and Perrie Edwards, from Whiteleas, both South Shields, initially entered The X Factor as solo singers, but were later put into a group with Jesy and Leigh-Anne.
Their TV awards follow in the footsteps of fellow South Shields X Factor winner Joe McElderry, who performed his TV show signature tune Don’t Stop Believin’ at the awards ceremony in 2010 after winning the previous year.
n The National Television Awards is on ITV1 tomorrow at 7.30pm.
